Job DescriptionDewberry is seeking a Department Manager (Associate Vice President/Vice President) to lead the Water Resources group in our New York City, NY office. The ideal candidate will have people management skills along with proven technical expertise in water resources engineering, proposal development, marketing and business development in the New York City metropolitan area.The Department Manager will be responsible for the overall growth of NYC’s water group along with leading proposals, business development, presenting at conferences, and participating in professional organizations. Our commitment to excellence stems from our personal integrity and from other defining attributes, which we call “Dewberry at Work,” that have inspired our employees to be successful for more than a half-century.ResponsibilitiesGrow, mentor, and develop a team of 15 to 20 water resources and coastal engineering professionals Develop and execute strategies consistent with the enterprise growth goals Conduct business development activities and opportunity capture planning, proposal writing, and oversightStaff project teams with the right number and type of skill sets to contribute to successful delivery.Develop strong client relationships Manage, lead, execute, and provide technical support for resilience, water resources, and hazard mitigation projects within the municipal, regional, and federal markets.Serve as Contract Manager and/or Project Manager and/or Engineer of Record on complex multi-disciplinary projectsBecome QA/QC champion for the water resources and climate resilience teamCollaborate proactively and productively with other groups and company offices across the Northeast and our national programs operations units.Required Skills & Required ExperienceBS or MS degree preferably in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in water resources and/or environmental engineering).Knowledge of USACE, FEMA, NYCDEP, NYSDEC and similar agencies standards and procedures for design.Professional Engineer License and ability to apply for reciprocity in various states.Experience writing winning proposals and leading successful client presentations for New York clients.Strong interpersonal and effective leadership skills.Experience using H&H modeling programs such as Infoworks ICM, MIKE, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM and others.Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), is a plus.Knowledge of coastal engineering is a plus.Knowledge to perform QA/QC using various standards and checklists.
