Overview Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina (Berkeley Mall) Job Title: Manager in Training Department: Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager Hourly: $10.35 Employer: Hibbett Retail, Inc. (HB: 00427) Summary The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with overall store operations and administrative duties. This role is knowledgeable in each product area or department and helps determine the methods needed to accomplish store goals and initiatives. It promotes adherence to policies, procedures, and standards listed in the manuals, actively promotes sales and promotions, and serves as an ambassador of Hibbett I City Gear to create a positive customer experience and help acquire and retain customers. The Manager in Training provides outstanding customer service and promotes merchandise, and assumes supervisory responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence while being trained in Store Manager responsibilities. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear. Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and store responsibilities, including selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling. Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary. Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments. Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed. Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends. Ensure quality customer service is maintained. Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Provide extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers upon entry and during peak periods. Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear. Follow all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the relevant manuals and memos. Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and inform management of potential fraud risk. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems. Qualifications Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel. 1-3 years of customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to assist in managing a team and support overall goals and profitability. Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without prompting. Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
