Faculty in the Department of Microbiology - MIC010

Responsibilities Academic responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, potentially teaching in the medical school, and conducting research in microbiology focused on host-pathogen interactions, viral and bacterial pathogenesis, and emerging infectious diseases. Faculty will have opportunities to interface with the Microbiome Center, Physical Sciences Division, and Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. Research may take place in the Howard T. Ricketts Laboratory located on Argonne National Laboratory, with access to gnotobiotic animal research, flow cytometry, high-throughput genomics, biocontainment facilities, biorepositories of commensal bacterial strains, metagenomic and metabolomic core facilities, and bioinformatic resources for large-scale data integration and analytics. Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available, and appointees will be recommended as a member of the Committee on Microbiology and, if appropriate, other PhD-granting committees in the Biological Sciences Division.
