Position: Senior Consultant, Business Analyst (Federal Financial Management) Location: Arlington, VAJob Id: 259 # of Openings: 1 Position OverviewFI Consulting is seeking a Senior Consultant, Business Analyst (Federal Financial Management) to support federal client engagements. This role will support business analysis, requirements gathering, process assessment, governance activities, stakeholder engagement, and documentation efforts related to financial technology, business transformation, and modernization initiatives.The ideal candidate has 4-8+ years of experience in federal business analysis, management consulting, process improvement, governance, or project support and enjoys working in a collaborative, project-based consulting environment.ResponsibilitiesConduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, document reviews, and information-gathering sessions to understand business needs and operational challenges.Document current-state and future-state business processes, workflows, systems, roles, responsibilities, and governance activities.Gather, analyze, validate, and document business and functional requirements.Support assessments of applications, technology investments, reporting solutions, data flows, system dependencies, and operational processes.Identify risks, capability gaps, redundancies, automation opportunities, and process improvement recommendations.Develop process maps, business analyses, assessment summaries, executive briefings, decision papers, and other client deliverables.Maintain project documentation, including action logs, decision records, risk registers, issue trackers, and governance artifacts.Support development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, job aids, training materials, and technical documentation.Analyze business, operational, and organizational data to identify trends and support informed decision-making.Participate in governance meetings and working sessions; document decisions, action items, dependencies, and follow-up activities.Collaborate with government stakeholders and FI Consulting project leadership to achieve project objectives.Support organizational change management, stakeholder communications, training, knowledge transfer, and transition activities.Assist with dashboard development, performance metrics tracking, portfolio analysis, and reporting initiatives.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Information Systems, Management, Communications, or a related field.3 years of professional federal experience in business analysis, management consulting, project management support, process improvement, governance, financial management, or a related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience documenting business requirements, workflows, operational processes, procedures, meeting outcomes, or project documentation.Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and the ability to evaluate and apply new technologies to solve business problems.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.Must be available to work onsite in the Washington, DC area upon start.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting federal agencies or federal programs.Experience with financial systems, IT governance, technology portfolio management, reporting, modernization initiatives, or digital transformation efforts.Excellent client relationship management, communication, and presentation skills. Experience developing SOPs, process documentation, training materials, or governance artifacts.Experience supporting process improvement, business transformation, or organizational change initiatives.CompensationActual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, education, certifications, geography, role scope, business needs, and internal equity considerations. The full range is intended to accommodate varying levels of qualifications and growth within the role over time.
