Senior HVAC Estimator, Commercial Mechanical

Jurupa Valley, CA | Full-Time | On-Site | $92,000 to $100,000 per year plus bonus up to 10%

Unified Mechanical Group is a commercial HVAC and mechanical contractor serving Southern California. We are hiring an experienced Senior HVAC Estimator who can run a commercial mechanical bid start to finish without anyone checking the work behind them.

What you will do

• Own commercial HVAC and mechanical estimates from bid invitation through submission
• Perform detailed takeoffs of sheet metal, piping, equipment, controls and specialties
• Price labor and material, then solicit and level subcontractor and vendor quotes
• Write scope narratives, assumptions, clarifications and exclusions
• Make bid and no bid recommendations
• Attend job walks and pre-bid meetings
• Build our estimating templates, labor units and cost history as the company grows
• Help develop our current estimator

What you need

• 5 or more years estimating commercial HVAC or mechanical construction
• You have owned complete bids, not just supported them
• You can read drawings, specifications and mechanical schedules on your own
• Digital takeoff software. We use STACK. AutoBid, FastDUCT, FastPIPE, QuickPen, On-Screen Takeoff, QuoteSoft and Bluebeam all transfer.
• Strong Microsoft Excel
• Clean, clear scope writing. Owners and general contractors will read it.

Nice to have: retrofit work in occupied buildings, design-build, prevailing wage and DIR, Title 24, OSHPD, and a field, service or sheet metal background.

Why this job

You would be our senior estimator, reporting to the Director of Construction and Estimating and working directly with the President. You build the estimating department instead of inheriting one, and there is a real path to Chief Estimator or Estimating Manager as we add people. Nobody is sitting in that seat above you.

Fair warning: the templates are not finished and the cost history is young. If you want a fully built department with the process already written, this is not it.
