Summary

The purpose of this position is to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates for products, projects, or services by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reviews architectural plans and other data to determine material and labor requirements to produce itemized lists.
• May require consultation with an applications engineer.
• Prepares documents including material take-offs, estimates, quotes, quote logs, and the Scope of Work; reviews these documents with the Supervisor(s) when needed.
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
• Computes cost factors and trends.
• Prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, and process improvement; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
• Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
• Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies; provide improvement recommendation.

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience/Skills

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in construction or estimating 1-3 years of related experience in commercial glazing, commercial construction, residential construction, building facade or architectural aluminum industry

Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. An individual is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. An individual is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Travel Requirements

The travel required for this position is less than 10%.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. Individuals are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at designated times and in specified environments in accordance with established safety program requirements. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. While performing job duties, individuals may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The base pay range for this role in Southern California is between $48,842-$83,031 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
