Assistant Restaurant Manager

Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in overseeing all day-to-day operations of the restaurant, ensuring that every guest experience is a memorable one. This position plays a key role in the Food and Beverage Department as part of the management team. All outlet leaders are responsible for the fiscal success of both their managing outlet and the overall success of the Food and Beverage Department through teamwork, promotion and retention of associates, as well as creative problem solving. When applicable, the Assistant Restaurant Manager will also oversee all aspects of Guest Room Dining service. Responsibilities Delivers internal and external guest service the Nemacolin way. Goes above and beyond – whether for an associate or guest. Actively builds and retains guest relations and acts as a mentor to other employees to provide superior guest service. Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations. Communicate on behalf of owner, executives, associates, family members and others on matters related to owner’s interests. Meet all financial goals in accordance with the budget. Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and Restaurant Manager to foster teamwork. Draft acknowledgement letters, personal correspondence and other tasks to facilitate the team’s ability to lead the company. Approve all schedules created by the management team. Ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll. Communicate resort news to associates as needed. Attend all mandatory department and resort meetings. Follow up with guest concerns in a timely fashion. Assist in creating yearly operating budget. Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in high-pressure situations while maintaining confidentiality. Demonstrate independent and advanced decision-making for complex problems using critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving. Manage time effectively to accomplish numerous tasks and priorities, including short-term and long-term projects requiring collaboration. Handle confidential information with discretion and tact. Work with Food and Beverage leaders to ensure all compliance (RAMP, ServSafe, Knife and Blade, etc.) and leadership training requirements are met. Provide impartial coaching and feedback to Food and Beverage leaders during training, service and investigations. Review resort daily financial reports and provide feedback and recommendations. Ensure guest satisfaction and uphold Forbes Five Star and/or Four Diamond standards while interacting with guests, highlighting resort features and offerings. Engage associates to create a positive atmosphere and culture. Create work schedules to ensure adequate dining room coverage and actively assist in dining room operations to uphold fine dining standards. Communicate effectively with external contacts and all levels of staff. Utilize office equipment efficiently. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Associate’s degree in Hospitality or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred. 1 year of supervisory experience in a Food & Beverage restaurant or outlet. Experience in a Forbes four- or five-star rated restaurant preferred; superior customer service experience required. Outgoing personality with knowledge of superior customer service training. Superior communication skills with ability to manage workflow and foster positive FOH and BOH relationships. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Fluency in English. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proven track record of staff development and retention. Good judgment and decision-making in administrative tasks, with awareness of potential impacts on the department. Ability to lift/push/pull/carry 5-30 lbs. Physical capacity to stand (approximately 95%), operate equipment (15%), kneel (20%), bend (50%), climb (35%), with other activities as required.
