Tenure Track Faculty – School of Engineering (Mechanical, Energy Systems, and/or Environmental Resources Engineering) Job no: 551990 Work type: Instructional Faculty – Tenured/Tenure-Track Location: Humboldt Start: Fall 2026 Department School of Engineering, College of Natural Resources and Sciences. Position Summary Full‑time, academic‑year tenure‑track faculty with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or Environmental Resources Engineering required to teach, conduct research, and contribute to service. Primary Responsibilities Teach lower‑division, upper‑division, and graduate‑level courses in the chosen program area and general engineering courses as needed. Develop and maintain a strong research program with original scholarship published in peer‑reviewed venues. Advise and mentor students, including participation in campus and system‑wide communities. Contribute to departmental, university, and professional service. Participate in traditional academic functions and uphold the university’s mission of equity and inclusion. Salary and Benefits Assistant Professor classification; annual salary range $74,652–$158,688 (anticipated starting salary $85,000–$90,000). Full‑time benefits as per CSU. Required Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent in Engineering or a related field, completed by appointment. Record of training/experience related to Energy Systems, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering. Demonstrated excellence or clear potential for university‑level teaching and student‑centered learning. Evidence of or potential for conducting and publishing original research in peer‑reviewed journals. Experience working effectively with diverse student and research populations. Knowledge of issues facing students from diverse backgrounds. Record or potential for involving students in research and scholarly activity. Preferred Qualifications Documented experience in the private or public sector developing engineering projects or analysis with clients, stakeholders, or communities. Professional engineer licensure.
