Description: General comments about the unit: The unit consists of 33 beds. It is staffed by 55 professionals. Day Shift features 1 charge nurse, 1 unit secretary, 7-8 RNs, and 2-3 PCTs. Night Shift features 1 charge nurse, 1 unit secretary, 7-8 RNs, and 2 PCTs. The patient ratio is 5 to 6 patients per RN. Equipment includes EKGs, code carts, vital signs machines, and vascular dopplers. Wound vacs are also utilized. Interpreting services are available through Cultura Link. Carescape monitors are used for rhythm monitoring at the bedside. RNs administer push medications, such as metoprolol, as required. Typical procedures performed on the unit include small incisional and drainage procedures and peritoneal dialysis. Thoracentesis is performed, though infrequently. Ideal candidate traits include high energy and a positive attitude. The dress code requires navy scrubs, and cotton jackets are not permitted. The hospital is recognized for making significant improvements in patient satisfaction. There have been numerous nominations for excellence in nursing. The facility features innovative technology, including interactive whiteboards and virtual sitter rooms. It is currently undergoing renovations for modern amenities.
