Adjunct Professor of Business - Construction Management The primary responsibility of an adjunct faculty member is instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division and the College. Job Duties An adjunct faculty member is expected to: Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators. Attend meetings as required. Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline. Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements. Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments. Support the College’s vision, mission, goals, and priorities. Teach courses such as Construction Fundamentals, Blueprint Reading, Estimating, Building Systems (Electrical, Fire, HVAC, Mechanical, Plumbing, etc.) and other construction related courses as needed. Physical Demands / Working Conditions Requirements include sedentary classroom work, occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, standing, teaching, and operating computers and equipment with repetitive motions. Visual acuity required for judging and assessing work quality. Work is performed in indoor classroom or office settings. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a construction industry related degree. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Positive human relations and communication skills (oral and written). Self‑starter with initiative and the ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues. Basic computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software. Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles. Commitment to helping students achieve their goals. Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus such as MineOnline and Moodle. Organization and attention to detail. Support and willingness to teach in a competency‑based instructional system. Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit. Ability to communicate and articulate concepts verbally and in writing. Ability to read and understand content to assist students with concepts. Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups. Punctual and reliable. Preferred Qualifications Construction Management bachelor’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a construction related field (e.g., Civil Engineering). 5 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. 3 years of experience as a construction manager, project manager, project engineer, foreman, or related construction industry experience. OSHA 30‑Hour certification. Required Training Adjunct professor must attend Moodle training to teach online classes. Work Hours Day, evening, and/or weekend as required by section assignment.
