Adjunct Professor of Leisure Studies

Job Overview An adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the academic division to which the faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole. Reporting Reports to: Dean of Social Sciences. Reports to this position: None. Qualifications Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in Health & Human Performance or related field. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Instruction in physical, mental, and emotional aspects of health and healthy lifestyles, appropriate levels of physical fitness across life stages. Knowledge and practical experience in care and prevention of athletic injury. Positive human relations and communication skills. Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software. Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles. Committed to helping students achieve their goals and attain a college education. Knowledge or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (e.g., MineOnline and Moodle). Organizational and attention to detail. Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system. Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers. Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit. Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner verbally and in writing. Ability to read and understand content to assist students when interpreting concepts. Ability to interact effectively and encouragingly with students individually and in groups. Must be punctual. Must be reliable. Job Duties Primary responsibility: Supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses agreed upon with the dean. Develop clear course objectives, prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning materials, fair and understandable grading practices, timely responses to students, and a positive classroom atmosphere. Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes for the program/department. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators. Attend department, division, and College meetings as required. Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline. Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements, if applicable. Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments. Support the College's vision, mission, goals, and priorities. Courses this position may teach include: LEIS 1602 Total Wellness, LEIS 2132 Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. General physical requirements: light work, may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.
2. Physical activities: frequently move around classroom to assist students, perform essential functions.
3. Requires frequent communication with colleagues and students, operate computer and office equipment, prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence.
4. Visual acuity: judge, observe, assess accuracy and thoroughness of work, make general observations.
5. Working conditions: performed in an indoor classroom or office setting.
