Legal Counsel - Dallas, TX (Remote)

GEICO is looking to hire a Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in Texas courts and other first-party insurance defense. The position is with GEICO Staff Counsel located in Dallas, TX.ResponsibilitiesResearch laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.Defend by trial or dispositive hearing, all matters assigned, as applicable.Qualifications7+ years of litigation experience in insurance/defense or personal injury.Juris Doctor degree.Admission to the Texas Bar and licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas, including meeting mandatory CLE requirements.Ability to travel as required, including attending trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.Ability to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner understandable by customers, clients, co-workers, and other employees of the organization.Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, facilitate conflict resolution, and possess strong organization, priority setting, and multi-tasking skills.Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.Preferred QualificationsCivil litigation experience.Insurance defense-related litigation experience.Professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and written correspondence/email.LocationHybrid/REMOTESalaryAnnual Salary: $127,100.00 - $198,850.00 (general guideline; final amount based on experience, education, training, market, and business considerations)Equal Employment Opportunity StatementThe equal employment opportunity policy of the GEICO Companies provides for a fair and equal employment opportunity for all associates and job applicants regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, age, gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, familial status, disability or genetic information, in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local law.
