Energy Regulatory Attorney for AI Training

Role Overview
Apply senior energy-law expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through high-quality legal review, structured findings, and real-world judgment. This part-time contractor role focuses on PJM, FERC, generator interconnection, site control, and energy infrastructure permitting matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide final legal review of site control, interconnection, and permitting documentation for energy infrastructure projects.
- Assess alignment with PJM generator interconnection procedures, queue-readiness expectations, site control requirements, and applicable FERC-regulated processes.
- Review escalated matters involving incomplete site-control evidence, inconsistent filings, unclear permitting status, or potential interconnection compliance gaps.
- Analyze materials for utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, and large-load or generation interconnection projects in PJM and adjacent East Coast markets.
- Deliver concise legal findings, risk flags, and structured determinations for client-facing review workflows.
- Improve review rubrics, issue-spotting guidance, and decision frameworks used by other reviewers.
Qualifications
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- At least 8 years of legal experience in energy regulatory, power, infrastructure, project development, or a related practice.
- Direct experience with PJM interconnection processes, including generator interconnection requests, queue participation, site control, readiness requirements, or interconnection agreement workflows.
- Working knowledge of FERC-regulated transmission and generation interconnection frameworks.
- Experience reviewing legal, regulatory, land, permitting, or project-development documentation for energy infrastructure projects.
- Ability to exercise practical legal judgment independently within a structured review environment.
- East Coast location or substantial experience with East Coast and PJM-region energy infrastructure matters.
Work Terms
- Part-time, independent contractor engagement.
- Remote role, with East Coast U.S. candidates preferred.
- Flexible hours, selected by the contractor.
Compensation
$100 to $135 per hour.
