Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: $142,000 - 194,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• We want 3-5+ years of software engineering experience building reliable services, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• We need strong programming skills in at least one systems or backend language such as Java, Go, Rust, C/C++, or Python; Rust experience is a strong advantage for compute and systems-focused work.
• We expect a solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, concurrency, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• We value experience or a strong interest in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, Linux systems, containers, storage, networking, security, schedulers, control planes, or management planes.
• You should be able to design, build, test, and debug reliable software in a large, evolving codebase.
• We are looking for strong communication and collaboration skills, along with an ownership-oriented mindset.
• We require 8 years of software development experience, or a relevant bachelors degree with 4 years of software development experience, or a relevant masters degree with 2 years of software development experience, or a doctorate in a related field.
• We look for demonstrated knowledge of distributed systems, including the design or management of scalable, secure, and highly available software systems.
• We value experience creating and refining prototypes for system validation and stakeholder feedback.
• We expect demonstrated understanding of computer science principles and the ability to implement them in code.
• We seek proficiency across the software engineering lifecycle.
• We also value demonstrated knowledge of web development, including designing and developing web-based solutions.

• Design, implement, and optimize distributed system components with a focus on scalability, resilience, and operability.
• Deliver features and load/performance tests, and use data plane platforms and distributed state tools for high-volume retrieval, storage, and processing.
• Review peer implementations for scalability compliance.
• Build fault-tolerant paths using redundancy, replication, and automatic failover.
• Apply recovery-oriented principles and implement retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
• Proactively identify and mitigate issues through tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry.
• Create runbooks and take part in incident response and root cause analysis.
• Implement standard replication and synchronization mechanisms.
• Develop automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Apply advanced security controls such as encryption, access management, and remediation while meeting change, compliance, and documentation standards.
• Track timelines with minimal supervision and keep work aligned to project requirements.
• Prioritize and adjust work as resources or schedules change, with guidance.
• Collaborate across teams to align expectations and achieve shared objectives.
• Identify and resolve standard and non-standard issues, escalating more complex cases when needed.
• Analyze information from multiple sources to troubleshoot errors and contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Continue learning new skills and tools, stay current with industry trends, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
