Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Intake Specialist

Through safety-net services and asset building solutions, Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) creates economic mobility opportunities for tens of thousands of people annually through programs such as energy assistance, early education and care, financial empowerment, positive youth development, and career pathways. WCAC serves 45 towns in Central and South-Central Massachusetts with offices located in Worcester, Southbridge, Webster, and East Brookfield. We are a team of 135 employees and an annual budget of approximately $30 million. The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a free resource available to help eligible households pay a portion of winter heating bills regardless of how they heat their home. WCAC's HEAP program serves households throughout Worcester County. WCAC seeks to hire and train a full time Intake Specialist responsible to gather applicant information to process the completion and accuracy of the HEAP applications.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED/HISET equivalent required; an associate degree preferred.
• Ability to handle incoming and outgoing calls for the agency and to greet clients and visitors.
• Strong communication skills and experience dealing with customers in person preferred.
• Strong organization skills, attention to detail is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required. Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new software, databases, and technology.
• Embraces and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; occasionally move about the office to access files, equipment, or other workspaces; and occasionally lift or carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to operate standard office technology including a computer, telephone, multifunction printer, and other devices and software systems required to perform job duties.
• Ability to speak Spanish or other languages, a plus.
