Vice President (VP), Healthcare Communications

FleishmanHillard, a leading global communications agency, has an immediate opening for an entrepreneurial, self‑starting Vice President to join our growing healthcare team. This is an exciting career opportunity for a PR professional with a passion for healthcare‑related communications to work closely with FH senior management and assist global healthcare clients with their external public relations and communications activities. The role will focus on leading therapeutic areas globally for one of FH's largest pharmaceutical clients, collaborating with other leading health clients and brands within FH's health and life sciences practice to address challenges such as reputation management, advocacy relations, media relationships, social media, digital integration, and marketing communications. FleishmanHillard offers a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to work in the office a portion of the week in accordance with local office policy while enjoying flexibility and balance in personal and professional life. Responsibilities Serve as the day‑to‑day client contact and manage work streams and teams on program implementation, reaching diverse stakeholders including patients, medical professionals, advocacy organizations, policy influencers, media, and client employees. Lead many of the day‑to‑day activities for the healthcare practice's account teams, assist senior members in managing budgets and forecasts, oversee projects and clients, and contribute to new business proposals and opportunities. Develop and edit compelling, high‑quality client deliverables such as plans, research and analysis, media materials, website and social media content, client correspondence, and collateral. Drive communications campaigns with healthcare and trade media; build relationships with traditional and social media as well as third‑party influencers. Provide team member management and development, fostering growth and skill advancement. Qualifications 8+ years of experience in healthcare communications, with deep expertise in developing and executing public relations and reputation programs, including product communications, content marketing, media relations, and leader communications. Agency experience is required; pharmaceutical industry experience is highly desired. Demonstrated experience working directly with clients on day‑to‑day activities, managing teams, and implementing strategic communications programs within budget. Significant experience in product communications related to product data milestones, regulatory approvals, ad comms, branded and non‑branded category awareness, and disease awareness within therapeutic areas. Excellent creative writing skills, translating complex science issues into consumer‑friendly messages and materials, and developing high‑quality communications plans, position papers, fact sheets, news and online media materials, bylined articles, trend analysis summaries, leader correspondence, and presentations. Ability to engage with and counsel senior‑level decision makers, delivering insights that drive alignment and execution of cross‑company initiatives. Experience building relationships with third‑party organizations, physicians, and caregivers, and representing the agency at external meetings and events. Strong understanding of the healthcare media environment, digital communications, and social media. Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, English, marketing, business, or related field. Results‑focused approach with a commitment to going the extra mile for clients and FH team members. Energetic, self‑starter, resourceful problem solver who manages multiple ongoing activities with high attention to detail. Good interpersonal skills, capable of negotiating approvals diplomatically, maintaining composure, and achieving quality under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Salary and Benefits The anticipated U.S. salary range for the Vice President level is $77,000 - $175,000. Salary is based on relevant experience and other factors.
