Brain Injury Services (BIS) helps children and adults with a brain injury build the skills and confidence they need to lead a fulfilling and productive life.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Manager of Day Programs, the Clubhouse Manager is a full-time, in-person position responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operational coordination for the ADAPT Clubhouse. The Clubhouse Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Day Programs and directly supervises the Clubhouse Unit Coordinators. The Manager provides program and staff leadership and oversees daily operations of the ADAPT Clubhouse, ensuring that services across all Clubhouse Units are integrated, safe, person-centered, recovery-oriented, and consistent with the Clubhouse model, organizational policy, accreditation standards, and applicable requirements.

The Clubhouse Manager establishes clear expectations, develops staff, monitors program quality and outcomes, builds effective partnerships, and stewards the facilities and resources needed for high-quality services. The position is accountable for the overall performance and continuity of the Clubhouse while working with the Senior Manager of Day Programs on matters requiring broader organizational authority.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Program and Staff Leadership

• Supervise assigned Unit Coordinators by setting expectations, assigning and reviewing work, providing coaching and feedback, conducting performance evaluations, addressing performance concerns, and supporting professional development in accordance with organizational policy.

• Establish program direction and coordinate the work of Clubhouse units so members experience an integrated program aligned with organizational goals, the Clubhouse model, accreditation standards, and member needs.

• Foster a welcoming, recovery-oriented, and person-centered environment that promotes member choice, contribution, dignity, skill development, and community participation.

• Guide Unit Coordinators in developing meaningful unit activities that support member goals, strengthen member participation, and promote collaboration across Clubhouse units.

• Monitor member participation, program outcomes, stakeholder feedback, and service trends; use findings to establish priorities and lead continuous improvement.

• Oversee admissions, orientation, service planning, transitions, and coordination of member services within the scope of the Clubhouse program.

• Build productive relationships with members, families and support persons, organizational departments, referral sources, and community partners to support quality services and member success.

• Cultivate partnerships that expand opportunities for employment, education, volunteering, advocacy, and community participation.

Program Operations and Stewardship

• Oversee daily Clubhouse operations by coordinating staffing, schedules, unit coverage, activities, and resources to maintain continuity and quality of services.

• Ensure program documentation and operational records are accurate, timely, confidential, and consistent with organizational, accreditation, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

• Foster an environment that supports informed member choice, independence, and reasonable risk-taking while maintaining appropriate health and safety safeguards.

• Exercise independent managerial judgment in addressing time-sensitive staffing, member-support, safety, and operational concerns, taking immediate action or escalating matters when required.

• Identify and address risks involving members, staff, volunteers, visitors, transportation, community activities, facilities, equipment, and technology.

• Maintain facility readiness and ensure that equipment, supplies, technology, and other operational resources support accessible and effective programming.

• Monitor expenditures and resource needs and make purchasing, maintenance, and budget recommendations within assigned authority.

• Maintain regular communication with the Senior Manager of Day Programs regarding program performance, staffing needs, safety concerns, compliance issues, emerging trends, and decisions requiring leadership involvement.

• Maintain operational readiness for internal reviews, accreditation activities, quality initiatives, and other compliance requirements.

• Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Clubhouse operations and organizational objectives.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation, human services, psychology, social work, special education, therapeutic recreation, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field. Relevant equivalent education and progressively responsible experience may be considered if consistent with organizational policy.

• At least three years of progressively responsible experience in brain injury, neurological, disability, behavioral health, vocational rehabilitation, Clubhouse, or related community-based human services.

• At least two years of experience directly supervising staff, including coaching, performance feedback, and accountability for work quality.

• Experience with quality improvement, accreditation, program evaluation, or performance measurement.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Demonstrated experience with person-centered services, sound judgment, documentation, and coordination of multiple priorities.

• Experience in brain injury rehabilitation, an accredited Clubhouse, a CARF-accredited organization, or a comparable community-based rehabilitation program.

• Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) or ability to obtain certification within the period established by the organization.

Core competencies include:

• Skill in leadership, team coordination, operational planning, coaching, communication, conflict resolution, documentation, data-informed improvement, and community partnership development.

• Ability to prioritize competing demands, make timely decisions with incomplete information, recognize when escalation is required, maintain composure, and adapt to changing program needs.

• Ability to use common office, communication, scheduling, and electronic documentation technology required for program operations.

• Knowledge of brain injury, person-centered practice, the Clubhouse model, community-based rehabilitation, confidentiality, safety, and applicable accreditation and regulatory expectations.

Required training and certifications include:

• Complete Brain Injury Fundamentals training or maintain CBIS certification, as required by the organization.

• Maintain ServSafe Manager or Food Protection Manager certification if assigned responsibility for culinary operations.

• Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.

• Complete other agency-required training within established timeframes.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise arranged by the Senior Manager of Day Programs. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.

Cognitive and Decision-Making Demands

This position requires sustained attention, executive functioning, and managerial judgment in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Essential functions include organizing and prioritizing work, adapting to changing circumstances, assessing risk, making timely decisions with incomplete information, and determining when immediate action, consultation, or escalation is required. Certain safety, staffing, behavioral, and operational situations require an immediate or time-sensitive response.

Physical, Sensory, and Environmental Demands

This position works in a professional office, integrated Clubhouse program areas, and community settings. It requires sustained engagement in an environment with frequent interruptions and varied sensory input; routine use of office, culinary, adaptive, and vocational technology equipment; local travel; and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform activities such as bending, kneeling, standing, and using hand tools, with or without reasonable accommodation.
