Job DescriptionJob DescriptionExperienced Community Habilitation (Com Hab) Staff – NYC & Long IslandHourly Rate: $30–$32/hr (Based on Individual’s Self-Direction Budget)Locations: Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn & Long Island, NYWe are seeking experienced and reliable Community Habilitation (Com Hab) staff to work with teenagers and young adults with developmental disabilities through the OPWDD Self-Direction program in New York State.We are currently hiring for multiple individuals and are especially looking for staff with experience in:American Sign Language (ASL) (Queens Location)(Brooklyn Location) - Experience with Autism (Middletown, New York) - Experience with AutismKey Responsibilities:Provide person-centered, one-on-one support in the home or communityImplement activities aligned with the individual's Community Habilitation PlanSupport daily living skills, socialization, safety awareness, and community inclusionUse communication strategies such as ASL, AAC devices, or gestures based on the individual’s needsEngage in interest-based activities (e.g., basketball, digital art, music, or design)Ensure the individual’s safety, comfort, and dignity at all timesDocument sessions in accordance with OPWDD and program guidelinesRequirements:Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (autism experience strongly preferred)Fluency or working knowledge of ASL is highly desirableBackground in sports, recreation, or creative arts is a plusHigh school diploma or GED required; relevant college coursework is preferredAbility to work independently and professionallyMust have reliable transportation and ability to travel to service locations in Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Long IslandThis position does NOT support visa sponsorship programsCompensation:$30–$32 per hour, based on the individual’s approved Self-Direction budgetFlexible, part-time hours tailored to the individual’s scheduleEmployment Details:Hired staff will be employed through the individual’s Fiscal Intermediary (FI) as part of the NYS OPWDD Self-Direction programStaff must complete all required onboarding, training, and background checks as required by the Fiscal IntermediaryTo Apply:Please upload your resume and be prepared to submit at least two professional references upon request.In your application, please highlight your experience in:Supporting individuals with autismUsing American Sign Language (Queens Location)Engaging in sports or recreational activitiesGraphic design, digital media, or other creative skills
