Essential Functions Provides input into the development, establishment, and implementation of institutional rules,regulations, directives, policies, and procedures of the institution, to ensure proper operation ofdaily functions. Plans, organizes, and assumes direct responsibility over the functions of the Clinical Services, Record Office, Medical Services, Chaplaincy, Leisure Time, Industries, and Education. Conducts interviews and counsels individuals in custody. Serves as full line supervisor. Conducts daily routine inspection tours of the institution for security, safety, and sanitation. Serves on and chairs Adjustment Committee, Employee Review Board, Drug and Alcohol Testing of Individuals in Custody Committee, Individuals in Custody Benefit Committee, and Quality Improvement Committee. Travels to various locations to attend management meetings, trainings, and to speak to lay and professional groups regarding the institution programs. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology, or a related field. Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization, a correctional facility or related field. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, validdriver’s license. Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification card and the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve monthsof start date, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws. Requires the ability to work overtime and duty administrative office hours. Requires the ability to be on-call. Requires the use of agency-supplied technology. Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, isprohibited.
