Role Summary: The Financial Reporting Accountant is a key contributor to internal and external Financial Reporting at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role supports the accuracy and effective preparation of financial statements filed publicly with the SEC and other reports distributed internally. With limited direction from leadership, this role is also responsible for various month-end and quarter-end accounting procedures. Key Duties:

• Supports the preparation and finalization of all required SEC filings (10-K, 10-Qs & 8-Ks).
• Applies industry knowledge to complete the monthly internal financial package and flash report for organization-wide executive distribution.
• Prepares quarterly financial deck for submission and review by Air Group Board of Directors.
• Prepares quarterly reporting submissions for required US Department of Transportation filings.
• Prepares and records monthly journal entries for assigned functional areas.
• Provides efficient and accurate reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.
• Contributes to project plans in areas such as process improvement initiatives, new accounting standard implementation efforts, and other ad hoc projects.
• Collaborate with external auditors to answer questions or provide details in support of Air Group's annual financial statement audit.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills: Required

• 2 years of experience in public accounting at a “Big 4” public accounting or other national firm, or 3 years of accounting and reporting-related experience.
• Bachelor's degree with a focus in accounting, business, or related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
• Experience with internal controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads under pressure.
• Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills and a process improvement mindset.
• Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

• A CPA license or eligible to sit for uniform CPA exam.
• Workiva or Blackline experience.

Salary Range: $76,400 - $114,600 / year Salary Details: Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
