Principal Vehicle Platform Engineer, FaaS Program

Salary: $80,000 - 120,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related STEM field.
• 12 or more years of relevant experience in the automotive and/or powersports industries.
• Demonstrated experience in vehicle-platform development and strong knowledge of automotive and/or powersports products and technology.
• Experience supporting or leading cross-functional projects and teams in system-level development.
• Ability to manage costs and develop business plans.
• Comprehensive knowledge of disciplines related to automotive research, development, sales, and manufacturing.
• Strong critical-thinking, business judgment, negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Ability to align strategies with a broad range of stakeholders, manage resources, and adapt quickly to changes in business strategy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed for business activities, networking events, conferences, and trade shows.
• Prior experience in a startup environment is an asset.
• CATIA 3D skills are desirable.

• Lead and coordinate the design and development of our FaaS vehicle platform, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and organizational goals.
• Oversee engineers, designers, testers, suppliers, and contracted work to ensure vehicle quality, performance, and safety standards are met.
• Maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance, conduct audits and reviews, support timely delivery of quality materials and services, and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, quality, and other internal teams to align supplier capabilities with business needs and establish development objectives and milestones.
• Guide design and development teams, set and enforce vehicle-level technical specifications and pass/fail standards, review test results, and assess feasibility, cost, and quality.
• Approve and validate CATIA models and drawings against vehicle requirements.
• Lead project planning and execution within scope, budget, and schedule; define objectives, deliverables, milestones, and schedules; monitor progress, quality, and risks; and report status and issues.
• Coordinate activities across design, testing, production, and suppliers; lead meetings and track open and upcoming items.
• Lead cross-functional and external teams, build effective collaboration, manage partnerships with other Honda divisions and companies, vendors, and suppliers, and keep projects moving toward deadlines.
• Identify short- and long-term functional needs and develop plans and proposals.
• Oversee vehicle testing, review results, confirm integration requirements and acceptance readiness, and recommend improvements or acceptance based on quality standards and customer expectations.
• Hold technical accountability for the overall vehicle platform, integration across systems, and final technical outcomes, serving as the primary technical authority for cross-functional alignment.
