About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Human Resources to play a pivotal role in advancing a future-focused people strategy, strengthening workplace culture, and building organizational resilience. The successful candidate will be a deeply collaborative and mission-driven leader, responsible for setting the strategic vision for HR across the institution. This includes overseeing all aspects of the employment life cycle for a significant number of employees and serving as a strategic partner to HR leaders across the various schools. The role demands a leader who can modernize HR policies and practices, foster a culture of respect and inclusion, and position HR as a trusted, data-informed, and high-touch partner. The VPHR will also be tasked with mentoring and developing a large team, and must be adept at leading through change, and ambiguity, and with a strong focus on the employee experience. Applicants for the Vice President for Human Resources position at the company should be highly experienced, relationship-centered HR executives with a strong business and financial acumen. The role requires a leader who can engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, from senior leaders to staff and union partners. While experience in higher education is valued, it is not mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a background in a similar scale, complexity, and mission-oriented organization, and must be able to demonstrate substantive senior-level HR leadership experience across core HR functions. A bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for an advanced degree or relevant professional certifications. The VPHR will be expected to have a deep understanding of current HR best practices, emerging workforce trends, and effective labor and employee relations strategies in complex, mission-driven environments.
