Java Technical Lead

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Java Technical Lead with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot Microservices, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), PostgreSQL, and Retail Commerce/eCommerce solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong hands-on technical background along with proven experience leading offshore development teams, collaborating with client stakeholders, and driving technical solutions from requirements through production deployment. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, architecture skills, team management, client communication, and hands-on development expertise in cloud-native enterprise applications.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software development with strong hands-on coding expertise.
• 4+ years of experience leading development teams.
• Strong retail domain experience is required.
• Strong combination of hands-on development and technical leadership experience.
• Experience managing offshore teams and distributed delivery models.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical initiatives.
• Experience working in enterprise-scale, high-availability environments.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices Architecture.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance applications.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native application architecture.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-based application development.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL database design, optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and code review capabilities.
• Experience with testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of application monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with retail commerce platforms and business processes including Product Catalog, Pricing, Promotions, Shopping Cart, Checkout, and Order Management.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications with Loyalty and Rewards platforms, CRM systems, Martech platforms, Payment platforms, and SaaS applications.
• Experience delivering solutions in high-volume, customer-facing retail environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor development teams while ensuring adherence to coding standards and engineering best practices.
• Drive architecture and design discussions for scalable cloud-native solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and support to offshore development teams.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure delivery of high-quality solutions.
• Own end-to-end technical delivery from requirement analysis through production support.
• Lead application design, development, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product, and Architecture teams for successful delivery.
• Identify technical risks and provide mitigation strategies.
• Communicate effectively with client stakeholders, business teams, and technical teams.
• Participate in requirement discussions, solution design, estimation, and technical feasibility assessments.
• Provide project updates, technical recommendations, and status reporting.
• Drive teams in the right technical direction while maintaining delivery commitments.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, estimation, and retrospectives.
• Promote Agile best practices and continuous improvement.
• Improve engineering processes through automation and code quality initiatives.
