Ultrasound Technologist | Float | Full-Time, Varied Shift

Position Summary Perform and maintain monthly quality control on the ultrasound system as required by credentialing organizations. Perform ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician, following established techniques and methods for operating equipment and processing images. Ensure technical quality of images and exercise judgment in processing assigned workload. Assist the radiologist in performing image-guided diagnostic and invasive procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, and hysterosonograms). Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures: escort patients to dressing rooms and ultrasound rooms, provide verbal and written instructions, position patients, select transducer, and adjust equipment according to test specifications while ensuring safety procedures are followed. Assess the patient’s previous exams and reports, load or digitize outside studies as applicable, review the referral form for each procedure, ensure accuracy of the referral in the system, communicate the referral to the radiologist, and administer medication as prescribed by the physician when necessary. Desired Professional Skills and Experience Knowledge of ultrasound technology principles and procedures, normally acquired through completion of an ultrasound technology training program. Experience necessary to independently conduct routine and specialized radiologic tests, assist physicians with special techniques or procedures, and become familiar with physician and department work methods and facility policies and procedures. Analytical skills required to conduct routine ultrasound tests, review results for accuracy and quality, verify patient information, complete material for the medical record, and monitor supply levels. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) recognized by the American Heart Association. Current registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or be registry‑eligible and obtain registry within one year of employment in the technologist position.
