Technical Writer

FRDA is seeking a Technical Writer to create clear, accurate, and maintainable documentation for cyber security and incident response systems, workflows, and processes. This role ensures that complex technical implementations are well‑documented to support operations, compliance, and knowledge sharing. This role is onsite in Nashville, Tennessee. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain documentation for security workflows, systems, and processes. Create runbooks, playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational teams. Document system architectures, integrations, and data flows in a clear and structured manner. Translate technical concepts into accessible content for both technical and non‑technical audiences. Produce diagrams and visual documentation to support written materials. Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to gather and validate information. Maintain documentation repositories and ensure version control and consistency. Support audit and compliance efforts by ensuring documentation completeness and accuracy. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of three (3) years of experience in technical writing within engineering, IT, or security environments. Strong ability to understand and explain technical systems and workflows. Experience with documentation tools such as Markdown, Confluence, Notion, or Git‑based systems. Ability to create diagrams using tools such as Lucidchart or Draw.io. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Background in cybersecurity, IT operations, or software engineering. Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
