2026-27 Nutrition & Wellness Worker I – Echo Mountain PS Location: Echo Mountain Primary School, Phoenix, Arizona Position: 9 months, 3 hours/day (8:45 am – 11:45 am), Grade 11, $15.15/hour, Non‑Interim Position Employment Period: Aug 4, 2026 – May 26, 2027 Purpose Statement The job of Nutrition & Wellness Worker I is to support food‑service personnel at the assigned school location, carrying out food preparation and complying with the National School Lunch Program and mandated health requirements. Essential Functions Clean equipment, storage areas and food‑serving lines to maintain safe and sanitary conditions. Assist with inspections of food and supply deliveries to verify quantity, quality and compliance. Support management and other personnel—including student workers—in daily kitchen operations. Serve one or more items of food to meet mandated nutritional requirements. Stock food and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security. Reconcile transactions such as meal counts and monies collected to maintain accurate balances. Maintain manual and electronic files and records to provide up‑to‑date information and comply with administrative guidelines and legal requirements. Use web‑based programs and other software related to the N&W Department to support daily operations. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit. Minimum Qualifications Skills: Adhere to safety practices; operate commercial kitchen equipment; upgrade skills as required. Knowledge: Basic math; understanding of written procedures; comprehension of oral and written instructions; safety and sanitation practices. Abilities: Use job‑related equipment; consider factors when operating equipment; work flexibly with others; problem‑solve using data; communicate effectively; work with diverse groups. Responsibilities Work under direct supervision following standardized practices, providing information and advising others as needed. Work Environment Physical demands include significant lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. Typical activity split: 10% sitting, 30% walking, 60% standing. The role involves temperature extremes and conditions with potential injury or illness risk. Experience and Education Job‑related experience desired. High school diploma or equivalent desired. Testing, Certifications, Training Food Handler’s Card (required). Maintains Food Handler’s Card (continuing education). Clearances Criminal Background Clearance Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt.
