Automation Technician

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot injection molding automation systems, including industrial robots, conveyors, sensors, and vision systems.
• Respond to equipment alarms and faults to minimize production downtime.
• Program and optimize molding robots, including Sepro, FANUC, Yushin, and Wittmann.
• Adjust robot paths and sequences to improve cycle times, part quality, handling, degating, and packaging.
• Maintain robot program backups, equipment settings, and technical documentation.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
• Replace worn components and calibrate sensors and actuators.
• Support mold trials, new product launches, and automation sequence setup.
• Identify and implement improvements to automation layouts, workflows, and production efficiency.
• Participate in Kaizen events and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Follow applicable equipment safety requirements and quality standards, including ISO, FDA, and GMP requirements where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–5 years of experience in injection molding automation or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with industrial robot programming and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial sensors.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Familiarity with end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) design and maintenance.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Technical certification or an associate degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, or Industrial Automation preferred.
• B.E. qualification listed in the original requisition; confirm whether it is mandatory or preferred.
• Must be able to work onsite in Lake Bluff, Illinois.

Pay Scale:

• Anticipated hourly pay range: $41/hr to $42/hr on W-2, subject to applicable requirements and final confirmation.
