Director of Operations

Job Summary At Eoptic, we design and manufacture advanced imaging products for space, defense, and industrial metrology — and as we scale from prototype to production, we need an experienced operations leader to build the engine that delivers them. We're currently seeking aDirector of Operationsto own production, supply chain, and master scheduling. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is a key member of Eoptic's leadership team. In this role, you will translate a growing order book of imaging payloads and precision metrology systems into predictable, on-time, on-quality delivery. Our operations center on cleanroom optical assembly, electronic assembly, calibration and characterization, and final assembly and test. Successful candidates are equally comfortable in the cleanroom and in the boardroom, and know how to scale low-volume, high-mix precision hardware manufacturing without sacrificing the craftsmanship our customers depend on. Job Responsibilities Own end-to-end operations: cleanroom optical assembly, electronic assembly, calibration and characterization, final assembly and test, supply chain, procurement, planning/scheduling, inventory, facilities, and shipping/receiving. Build and manage the master production schedule across programs; balance engineering builds, flight/production units, and customer deliveries, and provide reliable delivery commitments to program management and customers. Develop and scale the supply chain for precision optics, opto-mechanics, sensors, and electronics — qualify and manage suppliers, negotiate pricing and lead times, and mitigate single-source and long-lead risks. Stand up and mature production processes, work instructions, travelers, and capacity planning as products transition from engineering prototypes to repeatable manufacturing. Lead, hire, and develop the operations team, including production technicians, planners, and buyers; establish clear metrics for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Partner with the Quality Manager on ISO-based quality systems, non-conformance disposition, root-cause corrective action, and audit readiness. Partner with engineering on design-for-manufacture, configuration management, and clean handoffs from development to production. Manage operational budgets, capital equipment planning, make/buy decisions, and inventory strategy. Ensure compliance with ITAR/export control, customer flow-down requirements, and government contract obligations within operations. Report operational performance, risks, and scaling plans directly to the CEO. Qualifications Required BS in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field 10+ years of operations experience in precision hardware manufacturing, with 5+ years leading operations, production, or supply chain teams Track record of scaling low-volume, high-mix production of complex electro-optical, aerospace, or precision instrument hardware Hands-on experience with production planning/MRP-ERP systems, master scheduling, and supply chain management Experience operating under a quality management system (ISO 9001 or AS9100) and in ITAR-controlled environments Due to ITAR/export control requirements, applicants must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) Qualifications Preferred Operations experience with space flight, defense, or optics/photonics products Experience implementing or upgrading ERP/MRP systems in a growing company Lean manufacturing or six sigma training and demonstrated continuous improvement results MBA or MS in Engineering/Operations Management About Us Eoptic is a leader in advanced imaging and optical systems, delivering multispectral and digital solutions for defense, industrial, and commercial applications.
