About the Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) & CED Law Our Mission: We partner with low‑income and working people to build economic and racial equity. We confront economic abuse and invest in community wealth. With evolving legal, economic and advocacy tools, we challenge unjust systems, working toward a world where all people have what they need to live and thrive. Our Organization: The Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) is a Colorado‑based nonprofit launched in 2020 as the COVID‑19 Eviction Defense Project, formed to keep our neighbors housed during the pandemic. We built an integrative approach to eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness prevention that centers the legal and financial needs of housing‑insecure families, using a variety of tools to keep them housed. We now serve more than 1,000 people per month, bringing together housing lawyers, economists, data analysts, policy experts, organizers, and technologists to serve clients. We have served over 68,000 low‑income Coloradans across 54 counties, distributing more than $280 million in emergency assistance. We contributed to the passage of major legislation to prevent eviction, stop economic abuse, and make credit and life‑saving medication cheaper. Our model has been cited as a best practice by the White House and HUD 2022‑2023, think tanks such as the Urban Institute, and in the media. Building on our work to stop evictions, we expanded into disaster response, predatory towing, debt collection, benefit access & navigation, long‑term rental assistance, and homelessness response—offering a continuum of care that includes navigation, advisory services, targeted payments, legal support, and advocacy participation. More about the Bilingual Case Manager Role We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Bilingual Case Manager with lived experience to provide comprehensive, intensive case management to families experiencing housing instability in the Tri‑Cities areas (Englewood, Littleton, & Sheridan). As a Case Manager, you will help these families maintain or transition into stable housing and improve their overall well‑being. Your primary responsibilities will include developing personalized care plans, coordinating services, advocating for clients’ needs, and connecting them with appropriate community resources. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work and lived experience, along with excellent communication skills and a deep commitment to serving vulnerable populations. Services are based on a client‑centered, housing‑first, culturally competent and trauma‑informed care model. In this role you will Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients’ strengths and needs, including substance misuse issues, mental health concerns, housing barriers, and other challenges affecting their well‑being. Provide one‑on‑one support and stabilization planning through assisting families with housing, benefits, school navigation, healthcare, and other community systems as identified case‑by‑case. Collaborate with the Tri‑Cities lead family supervisor to manage resource connections and support coordination. Coordinate services and referrals to substance abuse treatment programs, mental health services, medical care, and vocational training, and monitor the provision of these services to ensure continuity of care. Coordinate with school districts, McKinney‑Vento liaisons, community partners, and Tri‑Cities agencies. Participate in outreach events, resource events and case conferencing. Provide warm hand‑offs and referrals to housing, legal, behavioral health, workforce, and other supportive service providers on a case‑to‑case basis. Facilitate peer support groups and workshops related to housing stability, tenant rights, wellness, financial stability, and community resources accessible to Tri‑Cities families. Return all work‑related emails, Slack messages and voicemails in a timely manner. Advocate for clients to ensure their rights and needs are respected and met. Collaborate with external agencies, healthcare providers, and housing authorities to secure necessary services and support. Provide interventions and support by offering ongoing emotional support and guidance to clients, and utilizing evidence‑based practices and motivational interviewing techniques to promote positive change. Maintain a caseload of at least 20 clients with varying acuity, in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team. Travel to meet clients for home visits and other client‑identified needs. Transport clients using a CEDP vehicle or an approved personal vehicle. Monitor progress and outcomes by regularly assessing clients’ progress toward their goals, adjusting care plans as needed. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of services provided to ensure compliance with agency and regulatory requirements. Complete consistent and daily documentation—case notes, assessments, and data entry into HMIS and HubSpot, our CRM software—while complying with all HIPAA regulations. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Lived experience required. 1‑3 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, or mental health challenges. Knowledge of trauma‑informed care, harm reduction principles, and evidence‑based practices in substance abuse treatment and mental health. Familiarity with community resources, housing programs, and support services for homeless individuals. Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality. Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and time‑management abilities to handle a caseload and meet deadlines. Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations. Proficiency in documentation and record‑keeping. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits and client transportation. Additional Details Candidates must reside in Colorado, ideally within the greater Denver Metro area. The position includes competitive pay, flexible time off, a benefits package (including medical, dental, and vision), and a 401(k).
