Shift SupervisorCompass Housing Alliance is the housing, essential services, and emergency shelter division of Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCSNW). In this role, you will be employed by Lutheran Community Services Northwest, but work in the Compass division, supporting a 105-year legacy of housing, shelter, and caring in the Puget Sound region.Blaine Veterans Center is a 24-hour shelter program, which provides enhanced emergency shelter for 36 male-identifying veterans. Guests access on-site housing navigation, hygiene services, daily meals, and a variety of case management resources to help eliminate barriers to stability. This intensive case management program is designed to move participants towards stable, permanent housing. The Shift Supervisor provides staff leadership and oversight of the shift ensuring quality of the program operations. This position provides direct services to clients, as well as supervision of staff in partnership with the Program Supervisor and Manager. Whether ensuring the Policies and Procedures are followed or providing administrative support this position will receive direct support from the Program Supervisor and Manager.Participation in Service DeliveryConduct and oversee direct client services for assigned shifts.With Program Coordinator and/or Manager, assure the maintenance of all necessary logs, records, reports, and statistics.Provide policy and procedure guidance to staff.Ensure timely and accurate data entry into all program-specific databases.Compile shift data to be used in monthly statistical reports for internal and external purposes.Assist the Program Coordinator and/or Program Manager in using the data from monthly and quarterly reports to analyze service delivery to identify areas for improvement.Monitor supplies, update inventory and place and/or direct ordering, as needed.Participate in program and agency meetings and relevant training as required, including inter-agency groups.Manage transition of staff at changeover/handoff and up-to-date information exchanges.Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment within the program for both staff and guests; treat staff and clients in a culturally responsive/sensitive manner.Assist and support guests with learning and understanding program routines including building safety, ensuring site walks, program requirements, and program policies and proceduresStaffingIn collaboration with the Program Coordinator and/or Manager, hire, train, schedule, provide leadership and supervise both regular and relief staff on assigned shifts to ensure effective delivery of trauma-informed services.Manage staff scheduling and ensure adequate coverage to provide service delivery.Serve as the first point of contact for staff call outs, which may require finding relief coverage or covering the shiftLeadershipRecognize the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to the organization.Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other agency employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.Project a favorable image of the organization to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its areas of endeavor.Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established agency policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.Assist Program Supervisor and/or Manager to facilitate regular team Staff Meetings. Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.Handle conflict situations proactively and effectively, modeling good conflict resolution skills.Create a climate where staff are challenged, supported, and motivated to do their best to help the individual, team, program, and agency meet its goals.HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:A minimum of 1-year of experience in human services, shelter, residential (work and/or volunteer), required.1+ year of relevant supervisory experience, preferred.Current WA State Food Handlers Permit, preferred (If not current, will be sponsored within 1-month of hire).Familiarity with topics of housing instability, mental health, substance use, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.Fluent ability to read, write, and understand English, required.Experience working in an environment where language may be a barrier, preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in Housing First and harm reduction, de-escalation, mental health, substance use disorders and other related models and skills. Model sound interpersonal boundaries and emotional intelligence.Demonstrated knowledge of local resources and services for individuals who are low-income and homeless, as well as the ability to develop a network of providers to serve the needs of agency clients.Awareness and/or training around belonging, compassion, and meeting people where they are, preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and create effective and engaged cross-team alignments.Demonstrated aptitude for developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures, and for maintaining compliance with safety and health-related regulations.Demonstrated ability to learn, understand, and utilize computer applications related to the agency; experience with HMIS a plusAbility to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, tactfulness, and respect for participants from different backgrounds and identities.Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and stabilization skills while working in work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and crisis situations.Manage difficult interpersonal situations effectively and know when to seek out support from your manager when needed. Ability to set and maintain boundaries in a professional manner.Ability to follow agency policy and procedures to maintain safety and security within the facility.Promote a team environment that values, encourages, and supports differences. Relate openly and comfortably with people from all backgrounds while valuing different points of view.
