Office Assistant 2 The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 for the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center (AMCC), located in Nome, Alaska. What You Will Be Doing: The duties include processing incoming and outgoing institutional mail, filing, processing inmate commissary, receiving money for inmate accounts, receipt and balance till daily, assume Accounting Clerk duties during their absence and assisting with inmate travel processing to include gathering necessary paperwork and submitting for payment. Other duties as assigned. May be assigned to cover other administrative tasks due to staff on leave or vacancies. The Working Environment You Can Expect: Anvil Mountain Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 150 inmates. You will be working closely with other staff daily. Self Management: effectively prioritizes and completes tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or the equivalent. AND One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs. Substitution: Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience). EDUCATION:

If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

DRIVER LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
