Church and Community Engagement Coordinator Job Category: Social Services - Domestic Programs Requisition Number: CHURC001314 Full-Time Hybrid Locations PA-Jenkintown, Jenkintown, PA 19046, USA Description This position works Monday through Friday during business hours, with the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed and requires frequent travel throughout Philadelphia. As a Church Engagement Coordinator, you’ll help carry this mission forward and make a meaningful impact every day. How Your Role Makes a Difference Identify and engage churches in the following levels: participating, lead, and community lead; Oversee the continuous growth of the program partner churches to ensure the engagement of current and new volunteers for Circles of Support; Network within the community to build positive alliances and create opportunities for the recruitment of volunteers; Facilitate recruitment of volunteers through Church engagement, Home Gatherings, and other strategies; Offer resources and coaching for Safe Families church ministry leads and Circle of Support teams, while ensuring good communication between the Safe Families office, churches, and other community organizations involved; Secure the interest of new volunteer applicants and assist them through the Safe Families selection process; Serve as a champion for the compassionate ethos of Safe Families, and show kindness and hospitality to those in need; Identify, recruit, and train church Ministry leads and coach them on how to develop their ministry teams; Effectively coach ministry leads to ensure Safe Families churches regularly recruit, support, and empower their volunteers; Develop faith forums or other pastoral gatherings, as needed; Ensure volunteers and churches are resourced appropriately to meet the needs of parents and their children; Facilitate or assist with developing a volunteer Leadership Council; Provide regularly scheduled compelling presentations to audiences of various groups and sizes related to the work of the Safe Families program; Assist in organizing and delivering high-quality training to volunteers on a regular basis; Assist with the file maintenance of all Safe Families volunteers to ensure they are complete; Maintain all documentation according to program guidelines; Generate and provide written reports to management, the board, and key stakeholders, as requested; Participate in all Safe Families staff functions, weekly meetings, and supervision; Participate in fundraising activities and other events that promote the Safe Families for Children movement; Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department; May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event; Complete other duties as assigned. What Will Make You Successful Bachelor’s level degree in related field of study from an accredited college preferred; At least one (1) year of prior experience in recruitment, marketing, or coaching; Prior experience with and demonstrated ability to utilize social media; Prior experience working collaboratively with local faith communities, preferred; Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Must possess an ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as needed; Must be an assertive, self‑starter; Must be reliable with time‑sensitive deadlines and tasks; Exercise a high level of confidentiality; Work well under pressure and adaptable to change; Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany; Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage; Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries; Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
