About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of level 4 NICU experience is required. License: VA license with the ability to obtain a temporary license. Certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP required. Must-Have: Level 4 NICU experience is essential. Cardiac PICU experience is preferred. Description: This position is for a Respiratory Therapist in a NICU setting. The role requires strong communication and critical thinking skills. The therapist will be expected to work with a multidisciplinary team. Comfort in caring for patients in high-risk deliveries and acute pediatrics is necessary. The therapist will cover all areas of the facility, including neonates, adolescents, and pediatrics. Responsibilities include performing assessments and implementing appropriate respiratory interventions. Competence in the use of specialized equipment is required. The role involves providing care for patients with various respiratory conditions. Working weekends and holidays is part of the job expectations. The position operates under a self-scheduling model, which allows some flexibility. Special procedures and a variety of patient diagnoses will be encountered in this role. The candidate should be familiar with aerosol setups, intubation assists, and high-frequency ventilators. Knowledge of neonatal transports and emergency respiratory care management is essential. Professional and effective interactions with families and the healthcare team are imperative. The ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of the unit is crucial for success in this position.
