Patient Care Associate

Job Summary Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Essential Functions Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within an established time frame or as requested. Completes all documentation in the medical record as required. Interacts with patients and their families effectively. Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks including bathing, dressing, toilet assistance, and feeding. Assists with turning and repositioning patients in bed and moving them between bed and wheelchair when needed. Listens to health concerns patients may have and reports those concerns to nurses. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (Massachusetts) (Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services) Nursing Assistant (LNA – New Hampshire) (New Hampshire Board of Nursing) Experience: 1–2 years working in patient care/elder care (preferred). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong patient/customer service skills. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Proficient computer skills for electronic medical records.
