Project Manager – MEP Engineering

Valley Engineering is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering projects. This position will play a key role in managing healthcare, higher education, K-12, commercial, industrial, government, and institutional projects while serving as the primary liaison between clients, architects, contractors, and engineering staff.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, exceptional client management skills, and the ability to successfully coordinate multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage MEP engineering projects from programming and schematic design through construction administration and project closeout.

• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology design disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.

• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and project execution strategies.

• Serve as the primary client contact and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, contractors, and consultants.

• Lead project kickoff meetings, design coordination meetings, and client presentations.

• Monitor project progress, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.

• Oversee preparation of construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.

• Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering plans and specifications.

• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, landscape architects, and specialty consultants.

• Manage permitting and regulatory review processes with local, state, and federal agencies.

• Support construction administration activities including submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, punch lists, and contractor coordination.

• Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, and construction challenges throughout the project lifecycle.

• Mentor engineering staff and support professional development within the MEP team.

• Assist with business development efforts, proposal preparation, fee development, and project interviews.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience managing MEP engineering projects.

• Experience with healthcare, educational, commercial, industrial, and government facility projects.

• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and life safety systems.

• Knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), NFPA standards, ASHRAE guidelines, energy codes, and applicable industry standards.

• Experience with construction administration and contractor coordination.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Revit and BIM project workflows.
