Contract to Hire: 08/05/2026 to 11/02/2026
Work Schedule:

• Full-Time
• Monday – Friday
• Primary Shift: 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
• Weekend rotation as scheduled

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Staff Pharmacist to join our long-term care pharmacy team in Burr Ridge, IL. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications while supporting pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance. The Staff Pharmacist works collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, fellow pharmacists, and leadership to verify prescriptions, supervise workflow, and ensure medications are delivered to long-term care facilities on schedule.

This role requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify prescriptions, medication orders, and labels for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure medications are prepared and released to meet scheduled delivery deadlines
• Review prescriptions for drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and appropriate dosing
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards
• Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and assist with billing and data entry requests
• Review and verify Cubex machines, emergency medication kits, refrigerator kits, and IV kits
• Oversee the preparation and verification of sterile IV medications when required
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, DEA, HIPAA, and pharmacy regulations
• Assist with ordering, receiving, documenting, storing, and maintaining inventory of controlled substances, including Schedule II perpetual inventory
• Ensure proper segregation and disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste in accordance with EPA and state regulations
• Monitor workflow dashboards and ensure daily operational goals are achieved
• Support pharmacy operations during evening, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed
• Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited School of Pharmacy
• Current Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing
• Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience
• Strong knowledge of drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and clinical pharmacy practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Preferred

• Experience in long-term care or institutional pharmacy
• Sterile IV compounding experience
• Leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
