The Employment Development Department's (EDD) Audit and Evaluation Division (A&ED), within the Labor Data and Compliance Branch, is recruiting for one full-time Supervisor I position.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

The A&ED supports EDD's goals by conducting independent, objective, and risk-based audits, evaluations, technical assistance, consultations, surveys, and other services to improve EDD's programs and functions. Under the general direction of the Supervisor II, the Supervisor I, will lead the activities of a team of analysts to conduct complex fiscal and program monitoring. The unit is responsible for ensuring that grant recipients' policies, procedures, and operations are established to achieve program quality and outcomes. Additionally, ensuring that objectives are met and comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.

The most competitive applicant will have experience in supervision/leading teams, excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. We are also seeking individuals with a demonstrated ability in personnel management to provide guidance and direction to staff ensuring goals and timelines are met. Due to the nature of our work, the ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to interpret and analyze laws, policies, and regulations, and will have ability to make decisions and build relationships with both internal and external partners. Working Conditions

Position requires up to 15% overnight travel statewide. Typical travel may be one week out in the field during a month and occurs occasionally.

Knowledge of and/or experience: 

• Knowledge and experience working in compliance, audits, investigations, monitoring, and or oversight.
• Ability to effectively coach, develop, and mentor cohesive and collaborative teams.
• Experience supervising and coordinating multiple staff assignments.
• Knowledge of and/or experience working with various software programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, TeamMate).
• Personnel management experience.
• Diplomacy in decision-making and relationship-building with both internal and external partners.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must submit an SOQ. The SOQ is comprised of questions below which address how each applicant's education, training, experience, and skills qualify them for this position.
