Skills: This is a Spring Java developer on an enterprise Web Application, Required Spring, Tomcat, MySQL, JSP, Spring MVC, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Jquery, React, Angular, AJAX, Soap web service, JEE, Design Patterns. Capable of learning and working on a complex system quickly. Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required). Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time (Required). Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback (Required). Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery (Required). Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Write application code with highest quality, secure and unit tested. All code must follow the coding and security standards.
• Coordinate with others within the team and organization for the betterment of the products we are tasked with delivering. This includes being aware of development efforts in other components that might impact application.
• Clearly express your ideas and solutions to team members, other departments and managers.
• Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
• Training and guiding junior developer.
• Solving production issues.

Can you tell me a little bit about the project that this contractor will be working on and what is creating the need for this position?

The project is a risk defense platform. Banks will come to LexisNexis to validate risk of an individual. They will check the devices individuals use, addresses, essentially preventing fraud and data phishing/mining risks.

So that suppliers can paint a good picture to candidates, can you walk me through what a typical day might look like?

They will receive a ticket telling the candidate what is needed. The team consists of 25 people, divided into 4 smaller teams interacting on a daily basis. They will be on their own when it comes to Java, Spring and MVC and the technical side.

Does your team work standard core hours or does that vary?

Core business hours 9 – 5.
