In this role, you will provide assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and recovery support services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, you will work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, overcome barriers, develop recovery skills, and achieve meaningful treatment goals. Through individual, group, and family interventions, you will help individuals improve functioning across daily living, educational, vocational, and community settings while supporting long-term recovery and wellness.This position is a great fit for someone who:Is passionate about helping individuals achieve and maintain recoveryEnjoys building therapeutic relationships and supporting positive changeValues a client-centered, trauma-informed approach to careIs comfortable balancing direct clinical services with documentation responsibilitiesThrives in a collaborative treatment team environmentIs interested in professional growth and evidence-based treatment practicesIs comfortable providing both in-person and telehealth servicesEssential Job Functions:Under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, or designee, you will:Complete screenings, assessments, and intake processes within state, CARF, and agency-required timeframesDevelop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and client progressProvide individual counseling, group counseling, group education, family conferences, and recovery-focused interventionsAssist clients in identifying and addressing attitudes, behaviors, and barriers that interfere with recovery and overall functioningSupport individuals in developing healthy coping skills, problem-solving strategies, and decision-making abilitiesParticipate in clinical staffing, treatment team meetings, and case consultations while providing feedback on client progress and treatment recommendationsMaintain assigned caseloads and adhere to agency service delivery expectationsComplete all clinical documentation in accordance with agency, CARF, and state regulatory standardsEnsure documentation is completed accurately, entered within required timeframes, and supports treatment plan goalsCorrect charting and documentation deficiencies within designated timeframesComplete required correspondence, reports, and client-related communication in a timely mannerAssist clients through transitions of care, including discharge planning, transition summaries, aftercare plans, and related documentationRespond to crisis situations and provide appropriate intervention and supportMaintain positive and professional working relationships with clients, referral sources, coworkers, and community partnersRepresent the agency professionally within the communityComplete all mandatory trainings and continuing education requirements in accordance with state regulations, CARF standards, and agency policiesDemonstrate commitment to the agency's mission, goals, and strategic initiativesPerform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Vice President, or Executive TeamRequired Qualifications:Missouri: Hold the credentials of a Qualified Addiction Professional as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (MCB)Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Reciprocal Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRADC), Certified Reciprocal Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRAADC), or Registered Alcohol Drug Counselor (RADC), Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP); orCredential of Co-OccurringKansas: Hold the credentials as defined by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board, (BSRB)Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC)ORAppropriate State BoardApplicant must be willing to become licensed in additional states, other than the state currently licensed in.
