Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by a confidential construction firm to conduct a search for an HR Generalist in the Raleigh-Durham area. 

This company is a well-established grading and utility contractor with projects across North Carolina. As the organization continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Generalist to serve as the primary HR resource for the business – supporting everything from onboarding and benefits administration to employee relations, compliance, and training. This is a people-first role that requires someone who is bilingual (English/Spanish), comfortable in a construction environment, and available to respond when situations arise, including after hours for workers' compensation or other urgent matters. 

Key Responsibilities  

• Manage the full onboarding process, including drafting offer letters, coordinating drug screens and background checks, and completing new hire paperwork. 
• Conduct employee orientations covering company policies, benefit offerings, technology setup, and job-specific and safety training. 
• Serve as a resource for employee concerns and situations as they arise, handling matters with professionalism and confidentiality. 
• Partner with management to ensure they are properly trained in employee relations, company policies, and applicable employment laws. 
• Stay current on labor law changes and proactively communicate anticipated impacts to leadership. 
• Administer employee benefits programs and educate employees on offerings and any updates on an ongoing basis. 
• Assist the safety department with accident and injury management, including workers' compensation coordination. 
• Maintain and audit job descriptions and employee classifications. 
• Manage job-specific HR needs including drug screens, background checks, and employment verifications. 
• Administer the annual performance evaluation process. 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with managers across the organization by regularly connecting on their team's needs and concerns. 

Skills & Experience  

• 2+ years of HR experience; construction, manufacturing, or a similarly hands-on industry strongly preferred. 
• Bilingual (English/Spanish), written and verbal is required.  
• Strong understanding of benefits administration, workers' compensation, and general HR compliance. 
• Solid working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. 
• Comfortable handling employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance conversations. 
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with a flexible, people-first approach. 
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment. 
• Monday-Friday schedule, 8am-5pm, with occasional after-hours availability as needed.
