The ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment is critical to your success General Motors.Develop, status, and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules in sufficient detail to monitor progress, assess program status, and identify performance issues in a timely manner.Use critical path methodology and application in network development, analysis, and problem resolution is required.Optimize sequence of operations and work flow.Create crew plans to ensure resources are properly allocated and utilized effectively.Create metrics to monitor schedule progress and help identify risk areas.Work to improve efficiencies through waste elimination and process improvements.Perform data analysis to establish shop metrics and tackle complex problems.Provide Technical support and assistance to manufacturing and maintenance team members, production supervisors and production associatesCombine data-driven analysis with practical plant-floor judgment.Communicate clearly with operators, skilled trades, engineers, leaders, and business partners.Build alignment and influence decisions without relying on formal authorityIdentify risks early, challenge existing practices constructively, and sustain improvements after implementation.Develop others and share effective industrial engineering practices across the plant.Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis.What you’ll do:Evaluate ergonomic risks, operator motion, workstation design, tooling, material presentation, and standardized work to reduce risk and improve operator effectiveness.Lead direct-labor industrial engineering activities for assigned plant areas, including time studies, work measurement, standardized work, line balancing, and labor planning.Establish and maintain accurate standard work and labor data using approved work-measurement methods and standard-time systems.Analyze production processes, staffing, cycle time, variation, and material presentation to identify opportunities to improve safety, ergonomics, quality, throughput, and productivity.Develop and implement line-balance plans, staffing recommendations, process changes, and production-trial support for current and future vehicle programs.Partner with production and manufacturing teams to identify root causes, eliminate waste, improve flow, and sustain gains through documented processes and management systems.Apply lean manufacturing and GM manufacturing-system principles to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.Support process-FMEA activities, launch readiness, change management, model-year changes, and implementation of engineering or manufacturing changes.Develop clear analyses, recommendations, presentations, and implementation plans for plant leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.Lead projects with broad scope and multiple stakeholders while managing timing, risks, deliverables, and accountability for results.Coach and mentor less-experienced engineers and manufacturing team members in industrial engineering methods, problem solving, work measurement, and continuous improvement.Maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization and represent Industrial Engineering in plant initiatives and reviews.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering field2 years extensive ergonomic experienceDemonstrated experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or a comparable manufacturing environment.Experience with time study, standard work, line balancing, or labor planning.Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, ergonomics, and manufacturing or assembly processes.Ability to analyze complex problems, develop practical solutions, and execute projects with significant autonomy.Strong communication, presentation, project-management, and interpersonal skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, quality, skilled trades, and plant leadership.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.Preferred Qualifications:Previous direct-labor Industrial Engineering experience or equivalent automotive manufacturing experience. Experience with global manufacturing systems, standard-time data, or comparable enterprise manufacturing systems.Experience with plant launches, production trials, model-year changes, or major process changes.Experience with throughput analysis, waste elimination, ergonomic assessments, and operator-centered workstation design.Experience coaching others or leading cross-functional improvement teams.Prior leadership experienced GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
