Job Summary

The Legal Business Analyst bridges the gap between legal practice groups, technical delivery teams, and the Knowledge Management (KM) department. This role is responsible for analyzing legal workflows, identifying process bottlenecks, and deploying technology solutions—such as process automation and KM platforms—to improve firm efficiency. The ideal candidate ensures all tech deployments comply with data governance and AI policies, while curating the firm's intellectual capital and translating attorney requirements into actionable technical specifications.

Expanded Core Responsibilities (KM Focused)

• Process Optimization: Evaluate, map, and re-engineer existing legal and administrative workflows to eliminate redundancies and improve client service delivery.
• KM Platform Administration: Support the implementation, adoption, and ongoing maintenance of firm-wide enterprise software, document management systems (DMS), and KM repositories (e.g., iManage, SharePoint, HighQ).
• Content Curative & Taxonomy Strategy: Partner with practice groups to design, enforce, and maintain consistent data taxonomies, folder structures, and metadata tagging to optimize searchability and findability.
• Knowledge Capture: Develop and manage systematic processes to harvest, sanitize, and store high-value work product, standard forms, templates, and closing binders into the firm's central knowledge base.
• Technical Automation: Build, test, and maintain low-code automated workflows and document assembly templates to streamline manual legal tasks and accelerate content drafting.
• Governance & Compliance: Assist in authoring and enforcing firm policies regarding data privacy, information lifecycle, KM security permissions, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence tools.
• Project Delivery: Gather functional requirements, draft technical documentation, and guide projects from conception through deployment using Agile or Waterfall frameworks.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary translator between practicing attorneys, administrative leadership, and software developers to ensure high technology and KM platform adoption rates.

Required Qualifications (KM Focused)

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems (MIS), Library/Information Science, or a related field.
• Experience : 3+ years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong preference for candidates coming from a law firm, corporate legal department, or professional services firm with an established KM program.
• Technical Skills: Proficient with enterprise automation suites (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform), document management systems (DMS), and experience administering modern KM search/intranet platforms.
