Machinist - Fabricator

Position Overview The Associate, Repair & Maintenance Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is part of Alcon’s Engineering function. The role supports maintenance programs for facilities and equipment, coordinating maintenance work, reviewing specifications, and participating in installation. The position is onsite in Houston, TX, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, with 0–10% travel. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders). Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Perform precision measurements with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators. Machine parts to required tolerances, finishes, and dimensions. Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds as needed. Lay out, cut, form, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools. Perform welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick (as required). Fabricate frames, brackets, guards, fixtures, platforms, and structural components. Repair damaged equipment and modify structures to improve reliability and safety. Ensure weld quality meets applicable standards and specifications. Support emergency breakdown repairs and improvement work. Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering. Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment and tools. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. CNC machining experience. Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent). Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo). Availability for on‑call or shift work if required.
