Job Title: Registered Nurse Department: Surgical Services Location: Newark Wayne Hospital Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: Day/Evening/Night SUMMARY As a Registered Nurse – IV, your nursing experience and leadership abilities allow you to develop and implement quality care plans for patients, while acting as a mentor to others on the unit. RESPONSIBILITIES Assessment – Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources to meet the needs of the patient and family. Planning & Implementation – Develop and document plan of care, treatment, and services; collaborate with interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintain an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provide an exceptional experience for the patient and family. Evaluation & Education – Evaluate, communicate, and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities. Training – Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non‑clinical matters. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required. Registered Nurse License in the State of New York. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s in Human Services or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Human Services preferred. 1–3 years of healthcare experience in related field preferred. EDUCATION BS: Nursing (Required) LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association; RN – Registered Nurse – New York State Education Department PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
