Job Summary The Director of Inpatient Obstetrics reports to the Chair/Senior Physician Executive and is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, coordinating, and implementing clinical quality improvement initiatives, maternal levels of care, and overall medical direction for obstetrics. The role involves championing provider growth, continuous improvement, and ensuring alignment with Acclaim and JPS Health Network system goals. Key Responsibilities Serve as a physician leader ensuring high clinical standards. Develop and establish evidence‑based patient care policies and standards in collaboration with district personnel. Participate in quality management and utilization review, data collection, regulatory submissions, and performance improvement. Attend leadership conferences and training to improve quality of care. Facilitate ongoing medical and clinical improvement initiatives. Supervise clinical operations for the obstetrical practice and guidelines for scope of practice for APPs. Partner with MFM, NICU, and pediatric leaders to optimize newborn care quality and safety. Develop Labor and Delivery protocols, best practices, and quality measures. Collaborate with hospital leadership on protocols, initiatives, and quality measures for Labor, Delivery, and Mother/Baby units. Provide education to obstetric providers about system‑wide practice standards. Address performance concerns for obstetrical providers and track key process indicators. Organize and lead interdepartmental obstetric quality review meetings. Participate in evaluation, training, and performance improvement of providers and advanced practice providers. Support joint commission and regulatory audits and track patient complaints. Participate in strategic planning, operational integration, and business process redesign. Serve as a resource to the community and perform other related duties as assigned. Position‑Specific Details Clinic Schedule: 0.6 FTE Provider Schedule: 0.4 FTE Administrative, 0.6 FTE Clinical Average Patients Per Day: 20 Call Schedule: Yes – About 2–4 call shifts per month APP Supervision Required: Yes Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution. Residency and/or fellowship training within Ob/Gyn. Current unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas. Board Certification or Board‑eligible in Ob/Gyn. Strong diagnostic and clinical decision‑making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to patient safety, efficiency, and equitable health‑care delivery. Proficiency in use of electronic health records (EHR).
