Job Description Your Impact as an Assistant Hospital Manager (Veterinary Experience Required) The ideal candidate will bring prior veterinary experience and a passion for developing teams while supporting exceptional patient and client care. Reporting to the Hospital Manager, you will serve as a key leader in our fast‑paced, multi‑doctor veterinary hospital. As the Assistant Hospital Manager, you will partner with the Hospital Manager to drive operational efficiency and team development. You will assist with essential HR functions—including hiring, training, and performance management—while ensuring compliance with policies that support a safe and efficient hospital environment. In this role, you act as a visible leader, balancing administrative tasks with client relations and team support. Please Note: This position requires prior experience working in a veterinary hospital. Candidates whose experience is solely in human healthcare, retail, hospitality, banking, or other non‑veterinary industries will not be considered. Your Impact Will Include: Team Leadership: Partner with the Hospital Manager to address staffing needs, including hiring, training, reviewing, and coaching staff. Serve as a visible leader and point of support for technicians, CSRs, and support staff. Operational Flow: Monitor daily schedules, appointment flow, and staffing coverage to ensure the hospital runs smoothly and efficiently. Conflict Resolution: Proactively address and work to resolve employee conflict and behavioral issues, fostering a positive team environment. Financial Management: Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through the collection of client transactions, strict cash/credit handling procedures, and managing opening/closing protocols. Client Experience: Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions, proactively demonstrating empathy towards clients and treating pets with compassion and respect. Systems & Records: Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records accurately and communicate effectively with clients and teammates. What We Are Looking For: We're seeking a hands‑on, people‑focused leader with a passion for veterinary medicine, team development, and operational excellence to join our growing hospital as an Assistant Hospital Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician who is ready to take the next step into leadership while continuing to make a meaningful impact on patient care, client experience, and team success. Ideal candidates will have: Veterinary experience is required Experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT/CVT/LVT) strongly preferred A desire to grow into or expand their leadership responsibilities within a large, fast‑paced hospital environment Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence positive outcomes A passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing team members The ability to lead with accountability, adaptability, and professionalism Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities A collaborative leadership style and commitment to creating a positive team culture Experience supporting hospital operations, workflow efficiency, and client service excellence Our hospital is home to 11 DVMs and includes boarding services, creating a dynamic environment with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and leadership development. This role is best suited for an experienced veterinary professional who understands the pace, workflow, and client expectations of a veterinary hospital and is ready to grow into a leadership position. What You'll Bring to the Team 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience is required (veterinary experience required). Excellent communication and conflict management skills. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Experience leading a diverse workforce and establishing a positive team culture. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including some holidays and weekends.
