Commercial Litigation Associate | Houston — Trial-Track Role, Manageable Hours

A mid-size national law firm with a strong litigation platform is adding a Litigation Associate to its Houston office. This team handles a steady mix of commercial disputes for Fortune 500 companies to closely held businesses and nonprofits. What they’re looking for: 3+ years of defense-side litigation experience (commercial litigation strongly preferred; insurance defense background also considered) Comfortable taking ownership of files and moving matters forward with limited oversight Solid deposition experience and a track record of drafting substantive motions Strong legal writing and analytical skills—you know how to build an argument, not just summarize the law J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic performance Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar What you’ll do: Run day-to-day case management on commercial and general liability matters, from initial pleadings through resolution Take and defend depositions (fact and expert) Draft and argue substantive motions (dispositive motions, discovery disputes, motions in limine) Prepare for and attend mediations; participate in settlement strategy and negotiations Work closely with partners on trial prep, including witness prep, exhibit organization, and courtroom support (trial experience is a plus, not required) Communicate directly with clients, providing updates, risk assessments, and practical recommendations Why this role stands out: Consistent hands-on responsibility without being thrown in unsupported Hybrid flexibility in the Houston office Clear path for growth into senior associate or partner-track roles Competitive base salary plus bonus tied to both hours and performance Have questions about the position or want to know more about the firm?
