FOOD SERVICE TECHNICIAN I

Position Overview Food Service Technician I (Nutrition Services) – Metropolitan State Hospital, Norwalk, Los Angeles County. Salary Monthly Salary: $3,329.00 - $4,163.00. Employment Type 12 month Limited Term – full time. May convert to permanent later. Location Metropolitan State Hospital, 11401 South Bloomfield Ave, Norwalk, CA 90650. Work Schedule Assigned to AM or PM shifts per facility needs. Candidates must be willing to work in any unit/program and any shift. Responsibilities Serve and assist with preparation, pre-dish, and assembly of food and beverages in dining rooms, central kitchen, tray line, and/or dish room. Clean and sanitize all food-service equipment, dining tables, and chairs. Label and date food items using the First In, First Out method. Ensure foods are provided in correct portion sizes and according to menu/meal tickets, including regular, modified, and liquid textures. Maintain cold foods below 41 degrees Fahrenheit and hot foods above 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Assist in loading and unloading meal carts and transit carts on refrigerated trucks between central kitchen and dining rooms. Receive weekly food and non-food supplies from the central kitchen and store them in dining room pantries. Follow HACCP procedures, Nutrition Services policy and procedures manual, and all applicable administrative directives. Work with any unit/program and shift to meet facility requirements. Minimum Requirements Permanent civil service status or eligibility for transfer, reinstatement, list, LEAP, SROA, or surplus. Eligibility to be on an employment list, transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility. Must pass any required examination if not eligible under above. Background investigation clearance prior to hire. Medical clearance required prior to hire. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $3,329 – $4,163 per month.
