We are seeking a 2nd Cook to join our dynamic team in one of our restaurants and play a key role in supporting the Food & Beverage Function within our organization. Role Overview The 2nd Cook is a contributing member of the cooking team, taking full responsibility of all food‑related matters under their prescribed station. To prepare and plate high‑quality food in a timely, organized and accurate manner, as instructed by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and most importantly Executive Chef. The 2nd cook should have all knowledge of the 3rd and commis cook responsibilities including sound technical skills and passion in all of the areas described in the 2nd cook job descriptions. Main Key Responsibilities Read and follow prep lists and recipes accurately. Communicate any low levels of prepped and stocked items to the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Executive Chef. Maintain The Crane Resort service standards. Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure showing developing problem solving skills and maturity. Help satisfy requests made by guests and fellow staff members alike having to do with the functioning of the kitchen and responding to the situations with professionalism and standards set by The Crane. Make aware any and all issues to the Chef De Partie / Sous Chef and Executive Chef. Required Skills & Qualifications High school diploma (preferred). Food safety training. Suggested completion or enrollment in a formal culinary/apprenticeship program/minimum three years experience in a similar hotel/resort/restaurant setting. Have moderate knowledge and understanding of the culinary arts with a developing skill set in the following: mother sauces, the preparation of other sauces, soups and stocks, vinaigrettes, minor butchery and cooking of some meats and fish, various vegetable and starch cooking and cutting techniques, proper knowledge of storing and shelf life of all food products used by the kitchen. To be in good physical condition, being able to stand for long periods of time, enduring various physical movements including lifting, stretching, pushing and bending.
