Pouch Line Operator

Position Summary

The Pouch Line Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of automated pouch packaging equipment that produces stand-up pouches as well as 2-side and 3-side seal pouches. This role involves setting up, running, monitoring, and troubleshooting the pouch line to meet production targets while maintaining product quality, hygiene, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor pouch packaging machinery (including forming, filling, sealing, and related equipment) to produce stand-up pouches, 2-side seal pouches, and 3-side seal pouches according to production schedules and specifications.
• Perform machine setup, changeovers, and adjustments for different pouch sizes, materials, and product types.
• Conduct routine quality checks on formed and sealed pouches (seal integrity, dimensions, appearance, fill accuracy) and document results.
• Monitor equipment performance, detect and resolve minor mechanical or process issues, and escalate more complex problems to maintenance or supervisors.
• Ensure proper material handling, including loading films, laminates, and other packaging components, and managing scrap or waste.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety (if applicable), sanitation, and company safety procedures.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and cleaning of the pouch line as required.
• Accurately complete production records, downtime logs, quality documentation, and other required paperwork.
• Collaborate with quality assurance, maintenance, and other production team members to support continuous improvement and efficient line performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or vocational certification in packaging, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience operating packaging or converting machinery (pouch, form-fill-seal, or flexible packaging equipment) strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, SOPs, and basic technical documentation.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments that may include noise, temperature variations, and packaging materials.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with stand-up pouch (SUP), 2-side seal, and 3-side seal pouch production.
• Familiarity with packaging films, laminates, and sealing processes.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking systems.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
